Resources

Compiled below is an always-growing list of academic resources that we have gathered from our own experience as students and from peers. Have a recommendation that we're missing? Fill out the contact form below to let us know!

General Resources

Khan Academy is an excellent all-around resource, especially for topics in Math. Students preparing for the SAT should also make use of Khan Academy, as they have partnered with College Board to build a comprehensive online practice platform.
Zotero Bib, or ZBib, is a free citation generator for any of the commonly used citation styles (MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.).
John Green and his endlessly entertaining yet informative Crash Course World History series on YouTube are likely familiar to anyone who has taken a high school history class in the last 10 years, but the Crash Course channel has grown enormously and now features series on Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Politics, Literature, and much more. Though, especially for the quantitative sciences, these videos tend to give more overview than specifics, they are a great resource for review of or introduction to a subject.

Test Prep

Khan Academy is an excellent all-around resource, especially for topics in Math. Students preparing for the SAT should also make use of Khan Academy, as they have partnered with College Board to build a comprehensive online practice platform.

Math Resources

Purple Math is a comprehensive resource for both standardized test prep and math topics up through Geometry and Algebra. The site offers detail descriptions about each topic in addition to example videos to guide you along the way.
In our opinion, Desmos is the best online graphing calculator available today. The program excels at graphing algebraic functions to help students gain visual intuition for abstract math. Desmos now allows you to define and track variables throughout each graph, and creating an account allows you to save and return to your work, making it an indispensable tool when working on calculation-heavy problem sets and homeworks. If you're looking for a 3D graphing calculator, Desmos has a Parametric Setting.
If you don't like Desmos for whatever reason, GeoGebra is your go-to alternative online graphinc calculator. The two interfaces are nearly identical, so the choice is more a matter of personal preference and loyalty than anything. GeoGebra also has a 3D Calculator.
If you are looking for a slightly more advanced online calculator, Symbolab is a good option. They also have graphing capabilities and math practice resources available for Pre-Algebra through Calculus.
Though the learning curve for use can be a bit steep, Wolfram Alpha is an incredibly powerful resource. Put simply, it is the online version of thesoftware used almost ubiquitously by researchers in the fields of Mathematics and Physics. With a little practice, Wolfram Alpha is an especially great resource for Calculus because it can calculate almost any integral and even explain some of the analytic steps along the way.

Writing Resources

If you are writing your own Chicago citations, the Chicago Manual of Style is your go-to guide. Maneuvering the guide itself can take a bit of practice, but once you learn the basics, you can determine for yourself how to cite just about anything.
Zotero Bib, or ZBib, is a free citation generator for any of the commonly used citation styles (MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.).
Not always widely known but amazingly useful, Google Scholar is a great place to start or grow the research for your next research project. Unlike a normal Google search, Google Scholar only shows (mostly) credible, peer-reviewed articles. You'll always want to evaluate the source yourself, of course, but you'll be surprised how many useful resources you will find on the first page or two of a Google Scholar search. If you're a University student, make sure to sign in through your institution's library to get full access to all the articles that show up.

English/Literary Arts/Reading Resources

Headsprout is an early reading (K-5) resource that engages young readers through narrative-based repetition and practice.  The online platform helps kids form audio-visual connections between the way we say and write words and offers a fun and effective way to get kids practicing their reading skills a little bit every day.
